Togolese Firms Win XOF 1.39 Billion Contract for Agricultural Land Development in Burkina Faso
In an attempt to boost agricultural productivity and climate resilience, the Government of Burkina Faso awarded two Togolese companies, Alternative BTP SA and Société Togolaise de Travaux et de Commerce (STTC) SARL, a contract worth XOF 1,397,805,254 under the World Bank-funded Agriculture Resilience and Competitiveness Project (P167945). The project, which will be awarded through a Request for Bids (RFB) process, will focus on the development of lowland areas in Sindou's Cascades region, a vital agricultural zone in the country.

The construction and rehabilitation projects for the lowland development of the Sindou valley ("aménagement du bas-fond des Pics de Sindou") are covered by the awarded contract, reference number BF-PRECA-268933-CW-RFB. The Agriculture Resilience and Competitiveness Project (PReCA), a larger project in Burkina Faso, aims to increase irrigation, sustainability, and productivity for rural populations impacted by climate variability.By improving irrigation infrastructure, conserving soil, and managing local water resources, the five-month project, which has a contract value of XOF 1.39 billion, is expected to help local farmers in the long run.

The contract was awarded following a competitive procurement process conducted in accordance with World Bank guidelines.The winning consortium, consisting of Société Togolaise de Travaux et de Commerce (STTC) SARL and Alternative BTP SA, based in Togo, was the most responsive bidder, and their combined evaluated bid price was equal to the final signed contract value. Competing Burkina Faso and Togo companies that failed to meet the bid specifications included COGEB International SA, VISTA Ingeniería & Obra Civil, and ECR BTP Ingénierie.
