In an attempt to boost agricultural productivity and climate resilience, the Government of Burkina Faso awarded two Togolese companies, Alternative BTP SA and SociΓ©tΓ© Togolaise de Travaux et de Commerce (STTC) SARL, a contract worth XOF 1,397,805,254 under the World Bank-funded Agriculture Resilience and Competitiveness Project (P167945). The project, which will be awarded through a Request for Bids (RFB) process, will focus on the development of lowland areas in Sindou's Cascades region, a vital agricultural zone in the country.
By improving irrigation infrastructure, conserving soil, and managing local water resources, the five-month project, which has a contract value of XOF 1.39 billion, is expected to help local farmers in the long run.
The winning consortium, consisting of SociΓ©tΓ© Togolaise de Travaux et de Commerce (STTC) SARL and Alternative BTP SA, based in Togo, was the most responsive bidder, and their combined evaluated bid price was equal to the final signed contract value. Competing Burkina Faso and Togo companies that failed to meet the bid specifications included COGEB International SA, VISTA IngenierΓa & Obra Civil, and ECR BTP IngΓ©nierie.
Alternative BTP SA is a West African leader in hydrological infrastructure, agricultural development projects, and civil engineering, with its headquarters located in LomΓ©, Togo.
A number of regional development projects are supported by STTC SARL (SociΓ©tΓ© Togolaise de Travaux et de Commerce), a company known for its expertise in environmental engineering, irrigation systems, and construction.
Their combined experience is expected to ensure that the Sindou lowland project is completed on time and to a high standard.

Promote sustainable water management and climate-smart agriculture.
Increase land productivity to strengthen the economic resilience of the Cascades region.
This award demonstrates the increasing integration of West African expertise in agricultural modernisation and public works, and it further strengthens regional cooperation with Togolese engineering companies supporting infrastructure-led development in Burkina Faso.
